I love this place and always will. The food is top notch, the service is old school diner style. The prices are great. I hope George's lasts forever and never changes.

Terrific lunch! The combination plate was delicious and filling. The Kibby special sandwich was Super! Joe says the spicy sauce that Albert brought out had good flavor and a wonderful accompaniment to the sandwich. So if you are ever in Terre Haute, stop by George's Cafe and have Albert make you lunch!

I have enjoyed every meal I've had from George's. Great lunch place for food that is closer to home cooked. Good flavor, good portion sizes, reasonable prices. I've only eaten at the George's in the Union so the space/ambience is not much worth mentioning. I will say all the employees have always been pleasant and quick. Great options for people so if you have a few picky folks they'll still be able to find something to eat. Love that this is a locally owned place with good food in Terre Haute. The Gyro's are especially good, as are the fries. But I've also enjoyed the Chicken Sandwich.

Kibby, falafal, baba ghanoush, and tabbouleh... mmmm. The decor leaves a lot to be desired, which is typical for Terre Haute, but the food is what will make you want to come back. If you're in the mood for middle eastern or mediterranean, George's may be one of the only options you have in the area, but it's a really good one to have. The prices are reasonable, the food is delicious, and the service is friendly and helpful. If you're lucky, you may even get a special visit from the owner, Albert, who has had his lamb stew recipe featured in Gourmet Magazine. Most of the seating in the main room is set up in booths, but there is also a second room which could accommodate larger groups. The only draw back for me was that George's wasn't open in the evening, which is when I would often crave the food. The good news is that ISU students have their own fast-food style George's in the University food court. Important note: bring cash, as credit cards are not accepted.

The food here is simply amazing. It has the best falafel I have ever tasted. The service is incredibly friendly too. The prices are ridiculously low for the quality. The cook, who I am assuming was Albert (based on other reviews), came out to check on us. We stayed one night in Terre Haute, and plan to go back for this place. If you're in Terre Haute, DO NOT MISS THIS.

Great place to eat very cheap one of those places that are a little worrisome when you first walk in but don't be scared. The people there are incredibly friendly and the food is way cheap and delicious.

Awesome Lebanese cuisine and a great value. Thanks to yelp, we ventured off the highway on our road trip to scope out this hidden gem. What George's lacks in curb appeal and ambience it makes up for in great food and friendly service. We ordered combo plates which did not disappoint and walked out for under $15 for two people. Bargain! Falafel and hummus both stars.

George's is a staple to the Terre Haute community. The chicken tenders are always cooked to the perfect crisp and the French fried aren't extravagant, but made perfectly to complement the meal. The menu is actually really big, but on campus they are widely known for their chicken (and it does not disappoint).

This was my first visit to George's. I ordered Christina's Plate to-go. I received 3 slices of lamb, 3 pieces of falafel, Greek salad, 7 olives, hummus, and some thin pita bread (I prefer thin anyways). The server was very nice too. Overall the food tasted decent. The salad must have been pre-mixed up with dressing because it was doused with dressing. I prefer my lettuce to not be soggy but it was still edible and they had a lot of sliced lettuce in there. They also put a lot of feta cheese on top, so I did like that. Everything else tasted decent. I was debating between 3 and 4 stars, but for what I paid for the meal (about $8), I considered it reasonable. I usually like to give a place two visits before I make a better judgement. Wouldn't mind trying the gyro and gannoush next time. And possibly seeing if I can get the dressing on the side... My take out container had a lot of oil at the bottom of it by the time I was done with my salad.

This place came highly recommended and I love Greek food so I was very excited to try it. I just went for the basics on my first visit. Gyro sandwich with a side of hummus. The hummus came first. It was fine. But the pita was bad. It's the kind of pita bread you get a Jack-in-the-box or Pita Pit. It's dry and gross. The gyro was even more disappointing. Wrapped in the same awful fake pita, the meat was paper thin, pre-sliced, cold cut, gyro like you can find in the freezer at the grocery store. Not the thick carved slices you get at good Greek places. Total let down. Also, they charge $0.30 for using a credit card. I've worked in restaurants for over 20 years. If a restaurant is that stingy they are probably cutting a lot of corners behind the scenes. Be wary.

Stopped in for lunch. I ordered the 1/2 order of baba ganoush and hummus, which was kind of expensive for the amount you get. The baba ganoush was pretty good but the hummus was average. The pita that they served it with was awful; it was literally cardboard. Maybe you can't bake your own pita, but you can at least drive to Indy to find something decent to serve your customers.

The food is absolutely fabulous and the proprietor, Albert, is kind and gracious. Our favorites are the humus, falafel special, and the chicken gyro. Albert often treats his regular customers to his special bread and Lebanese coffee... powerful stuff. The hamburgers and other traditional American fare are great as well, but be a little adventurous and try the kibby or other Middle-eastern cuisine. It's well worth your time to seek this place out. Tell him Morgan sent you.

I've been going here for twenty years, I'm always glad to go back to George's. The decor notwithstanding, this is a nice place to have a basic breakfast or lunch. Nice tabouli and falafel, good diner burgers and the tomatoes are usually well cared-for, which is more than I can say for a lot of places. The mediterranean food is authentic and the prices are so reasonable you'll hardly notice you paid!

I heard good things about this place, so me and a bunch of friends loaded up on our lunch break and went in. I had the loaded gyro. I was disappointed to see that the shawarma wasn't shaved off the spit, but appeared to be previously frozen pieces. The gyro only came with two pieces! The pitas were also stale, to the point that they would fall apart when picking them up. The tzatziki sauce was very good, as was the chef's homemade hot sauce and hummus. I just expected way more from the gyro.

Loved the tabbouleh and the chicken and hummus so much that the disappointing gyro and baklava still afforded a 4-star review! Great service too! Love that I could get Lebanese food while I'm in Terre Haute!

We stopped here for lunch and felt like we had the great fortune of finding a hidden gem. I wouldn't come expecting any type of ambience at all. The food was really great... The falafel special, gyro special, and Lebanese chicken plate were all tasty and satisfying. There were options for those less adventurous eaters in our party too. Service was excellent.

Well George's is currently my favorite lunch stop by far this year (2012). This review is based on food alone. The decor is hideous and parking is tough. Now that you know that, it's time to talk about the food and the service. The menu is a blend of American, Syrian, and Mediterranean. I am recently vegetarian but i will tell you, the cheeseburger is GOOD! The Gyro is fabulous, and the all the "fixins" are fresh. I now get the falafel special. It is basically a gyro with falafel instead of gyro meat. I love it. Albert is the man that is the magician in the kitchen. He makes a spicy Syrian sauce from scratch called shata that is ridiculously good. I put it on everything! The service is first rate. It can be packed in there for lunch and the girls never leave you wanting. Albert is always friendly and likes to come out and shake your hand once in a while. I like that. It puts a personal touch to things. All in all, the food is excellent and the staff is very comptetent. Try it! You'll be glad you did!

Solid Mediterranean food in Terre Haute. Food is cheap and staff is friendly. Some of the quality of ingredients (i.e. olives) leaves room for improvement, but its difficult to complain on the price point. Great lunch.

I used to eat at George's with my dad all the time. This is a great place and the proprietors are always very friendly and accommodating. So glad to see that it is still open!

Too good. Too cheap. Albert is too kind. I wish they were open for dinner. All of the food is so delicious and the service is so genuinely nice. Treat yourself and your tummy.
